According to their possibilities, the volunteers will help with different tasks. The local partner Wangdenling has built a Gompa a meditation hall. Based on historical sources Bošáca valley surrounding the Wangdenling was known in 12th century as the place of Christian hermits – the name Bosaca comes from word Bosonohy – which means barefoot monks.. There’s a magnificent view of the Ling on the Bosaca valley and on the third highest peak of Biele Karpaty – Velky Lopenik, which – according to legend – is built on golden pillars.
The local partner NGO Pangaea works on restitution of traditional regional varieties of fruit trees and practical nature conservation and management. You will help with tree planting, mowing rare orchid meadows, creating small water bodies or building infrastructure for sheep grazing the pastures for endangered butterflies. By building various wooden constructions or planting and trimming lines of shrubs and trees you can create refuges for various insects and nesting sites for birds.
The purpose of this camp is to involve international volunteers with an experience which will help the local community. In this camp, volunteers learn together from each other. In the evenings the volunteers will gather together to share experience and the camp will culminate in a party.
This work camp is a way to enjoy an amazing time in Slovakia, country you don’t know with other international volunteers and to have an incredible experience where participants share their knowledge. So don’t worry if you’re not an experienced builder or garden architect, because the work camp doesn’t require advanced knowledge and it isn’t a competition.
